Anyone actually notice a difference after installing a UV sanitizer?

My pool builder suggested adding a UV sanitizer to the system when we upgraded some equipment last season. I went ahead with it but honestly I’m not totally sure what difference it’s making.
Water has been clear, but it was pretty clear before too. I guess it’s supposed to help reduce the amount of sanitizer needed but I haven’t really tested that much yet.
For those of you running UV systems did you notice any real benefits after installing one?

I installed one about two years ago. The biggest difference for me was that the water felt a bit softer and we noticed less of that typical pool smell. It doesn’t replace normal sanitation, but it definitely seems to help keep things more stable.

Same experience here. You might not notice a dramatic change if your pool was already well balanced but the UV helps kill stuff as water passes through the chamber. Think of it more like an extra safety layer.

I added UV mainly because we get a lot of swimmers during summer weekends. It seems to help the system recover faster after heavy use. Hard to measure exactly, but I’m glad I installed it.

That makes sense. Sounds like it’s more of a behind the scenes improvement rather than something obvious day to day. Good to know others have had decent results with it.
