Anyone here build their own pool?

Yep, I built my own in-ground pool a few years ago and it was one of the toughest but most rewarding projects I’ve ever done. Honestly, it’s a ton of work. Planning, digging, plumbing, electrical, inspections everything takes longer than you think. But the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself is huge, and you’ll save a lot on labor costs. That said, it’s not for the faint of heart. Be prepared for setbacks, long weekends, and learning on the fly. If you’re handy, organized, and patient, it’s worth it. If you’re short on time or hate troubleshooting, hiring pros might save your sanity.
 
I built mine with friends saved a lot but it took time. If you’re organized and ready for weekend work plus permits/inspections, it’s worth it. If you want fewer headaches, hire a contractor.
 
I’d say it’s doable if you’re organized and have some weekends to spare. You’ll save on labor, but plan for permits, inspections, a 10–15% contingency, and plenty of sweat. DIY the easy parts and leave excavation/electrical to the pros if you want fewer headaches.

I think it really depends on your situation. If you’ve got time and patience, the sweat can be worth it for the savings. But if you’re short on time, hiring pros is often worth it so you don’t stress out.
