Anyone tried Eagle Ray Water Testing kits? Are they accurate?

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my water testing routine and came across the Eagle Ray kits. Has anyone here used them? Are they actually more reliable than strips without all the hassle of a full drop test kit? I have a small pool and test a few times a week, so something easy but accurate would be great. Appreciate any thoughts before I buy one.

I switched to the Eagle Ray kit this season and it’s been pretty solid. The digital reader takes the guesswork out of pH and chlorine, and it’s faster than liquid tests. I still double-check with a drop kit once in a while, but for day-to-day use, it’s accurate enough to trust. Worth it if you want quick, clean results.

Yeah, I picked one up a while back after getting fed up with the cheap strips. It’s a step up, accuracy wise. not as precise as a full drop kit, but way less of a hassle.

The colour matching can still be a little tricky depending on lighting, but it’s way more consistent than the strips I used before. I’ve got a small pool too, and test maybe 3–4 times a week, and it’s worked fine for that.

Just make sure you store it right so it doesn’t get damp or warped. worth it imo if you’re not doing super detailed balancing all the time.

Honestly, I’ve been using both a drop kit and an Eagle Ray. While I trust the drop kit for more precise balancing, I’ll go for the Eagle Ray for quick tests especially when I’m just checking pH and chlorine levels in between more detailed cleanings. The Eagle Ray definitely gets the job done faster.

I’ve got the Eagle Ray, too! It’s super quick, but for me, I mostly use it when I’m doing regular checks in between full cleanings. I prefer the drop kit when I need to dive deeper into my pool chemistry though call it my ‘accuracy safety net’. I feel like the Eagle Ray’s perfect for keeping things in check, but I trust the drop kit for the heavy lifting.

I hear you on wanting quick checks been there! I actually pair my Eagle Ray strips with a little spreadsheet on my phone. Every time I test, I log pH and chlorine, then at month’s end I glance at the trend. It’s way easier than a full drop kit every week, but still catches any creeper swings before they become big headaches. Might be a fun middle ground for you!

I gave the Eagle Ray a try recently and, honestly, it's been decent for everyday checks. The readings aren’t always spot-on compared to my older drop kit, but they’re close enough to catch when something’s drifting out of range.

What helped was rinsing it before each use; it seems sensitive to residue. It’s not a magic fix, but for someone checking the pool a few times a week, it saves time. Just don’t toss your drop kit yet; I still pull that out now and then to double-check.

I switched last month when my strip stash started feeling like ancient relics wow, what a relief! My Eagle Ray tells me my pH and chlorine in a blink, and I swear I spend half as much time squinting at colors now. Total game-changer for my weekend chill routine!

What sold me on the Eagle Ray was how steady the results stayed over time. With some testers, I’d notice small random jumps from one day to the next, even when the pool conditions hadn’t changed much. With this kit, as long as I keep it clean and let it acclimate for a minute before testing, the numbers tend to track consistently. For a small pool, that reliability saves me from chasing phantom chemistry problems.

When I first tried the Eagle Ray, my pH read a little high turned out the cuvette had sunscreen smudges. After rinsing and doing a week of side-by-side with my drop kit, it stayed within ~0.1–0.2. I keep the drop kit for a monthly baseline worth a quick baseline on yours?
