Are pool automation systems actually worth it?

I use mine way more than I expected. Being able to adjust pump speeds or turn the spa on before I get home is super convenient. It’s one of those things that feels unnecessary until you have it.

I like mine, but setup was a bit of a learning curve. Once it’s dialed in it’s great. Just make sure it’s compatible with your existing equipment before committing.

For me the biggest benefit was scheduling. I used to forget to adjust things seasonally. Now it’s all programmed and I barely think about it. That alone made it worth it.

Honestly from my experience, automation isn’t just a gimmick if you’re someone who likes optimizing things. I hesitated at first because of the cost, but now I regularly use it to adjust pump schedules based on bather load and temperature, which helps keep pH more stable without constantly checking the panel. What I use most is being able to check system status when I’m away. If you like having control and tweaking settings, you’ll use it. If you rarely adjust anything now, it might feel like overkill.
