Can you ever fully prevent algae?

Ugh, same here. It’s always the corners 😩 no matter how much I brush or shock, that little bit still creeps back. I started aiming one of the return jets toward the problem spot, and that helped a bit.

Also, using a small hand brush just for the steps and corners makes a difference. I was skipping over them too fast before without realising it. Still not perfect, but at least it’s not coming back as fast now.

No matter what I do a little shows up in the corners. Any secrets?
Honestly, it’s tough to prevent it 100%, especially in shady corners where water doesn’t circulate well. I brush those areas a few times a week and keep chlorine on the higher side during hot weather. Also helps to run the pump a little longer each day to keep the water moving.

Even the cleanest pools get a little algae sometimes, especially if the chlorine dips for a day or two. My trick is to brush regularly and shock the pool after heavy use or rain. Also check your stabilizer level if it’s too high, your chlorine won’t work as well.

Same here, I get tiny patches in the steps and corners now and then. I just spot brush them and sometimes add an algaecide if it keeps coming back. It’s kinda like weeds in a garden you control it, but it’s hard to stop it forever.

What made a difference for me was cleaning behind the light fixtures and under the skimmer flap. I didn’t even think to check there, but those spots were hiding slimy buildup and probably reintroducing algae even after I thought it was gone.

Also started doing quick chlorine checks every morning during the hottest weeks, not a full test, just a dip strip. It helped me catch drops early before things got out of hand. I don’t think algae can ever be fully stopped, but staying ahead of it makes a huge difference. Little habits seem to matter more than one big fix.
