Construction dust getting in my pool?

We’ve got roadwork going on near my street and I swear the pool’s been way dirtier lately. Could that dust really be blowing all the way into my backyard? Curious if others have seen this happen when there’s construction nearby.

Absolutely, Amber, that happens more than you’d think. Construction dust is super fine and light, so even if the work’s down the street, the wind can easily carry it right into your backyard and pool. I dealt with the same thing when they repaved a nearby road, my pool looked cloudy for weeks.

A few tips that helped: run your pump a bit longer during the day, keep your skimmer socks or filter cleaned out more often, and if it’s really bad, you can throw on a solar or leaf cover while the work’s going on. Some people even mist their yard fence or surrounding area lightly with water before the wind picks up, it helps trap dust before it blows in. It should settle back to normal once the construction wraps up.

I’ve dealt with this too the wind carries construction dust far. While the work’s going on: run the pump longer in the day, use a skimmer sock & clean the filter more, and cover the pool on windy days. You can also mist the fence/yard so the dust sticks.
