Do advanced sanitation systems still matter if you already keep perfect water balance?

I test my water regularly and usually keep chlorine, pH and alkalinity right where they should be. Lately I’ve been looking at UV and mineral systems but I’m not sure if they actually add value when the basics are already dialed in. Are these systems more about convenience or do they actually prevent problems that good chemistry alone can’t?

In my experience they don’t replace good chemistry but they do smooth things out. I noticed fewer swings after heavy use once I added UV.

I added a mineral system and still test just as often. The main benefit for me was water feel not fewer chemicals.

They help most when something goes wrong. If sanitizer dips for a day the backup system can prevent algae from getting a foothold.

That makes sense. Sounds like it’s more of a safety net than a shortcut which actually helps me decide if it’s worth it.

For me it’s more of a helper than a shortcut, because if your basic circulation and cleanliness are solid you often won’t see a huge difference, but you might notice it during heavy use or after storms when fine debris spikes. The overlooked part is these add-ons need the right flow rate, enough contact time, and regular upkeep or they fade, so you’re adding new failure points and running cost. Do you need it for steady day to day conditions, or for weekends that suddenly get packed?

I’m with what Freddie mentioned about these systems smoothing things out. From my experience, when your basics are already solid, they don’t magically fix problems, but they do make weird days less stressful. I think you’re paying for convenience and a safety buffer, not a shortcut that replaces good chemistry.
