Ever had a pool overflow from forgetting the hose?

Okay, this is embarrassing, but has anyone else ever left the hose running and forgotten about it? I stepped out to take a call, came back over an hour later, and the yard was a swamp. Water was halfway down the path. Took forever to get the level back where it needed to be. Curious if I’m the only one who’s done this or if it’s a common screw-up?
 
Oh, you’re definitely not alone on that one. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started filling the pool, got distracted, and came back an hour later to find the backyard flooded. Once, the water was so high it almost covered the skimmer opening. Now I always set a timer on my phone whenever I turn on the hose, or I’ll 100% forget. Honestly, it happens to a lot of us between phone calls, errands, and life stuff, it’s easy to lose track. At least now you know for next time. Bonus tip: some people put in an auto-fill valve to avoid this kind of thing completely.
 
Yep, been there. I walked away once, thinking “I’ll come back in 10 mins”, then got caught up fixing the BBQ. Came back like 2 hours later, and there was water running under the fence into my neighbour’s yard.

Had to spend the whole evening scooping water out with buckets like an idiot. 😂 Since then, I keep a sticky note on the patio door that just says “HOSE??” in big letters. Not high tech, but it’s saved me a couple of times.
 
Oh yeah, totally done this. Went inside to grab a snack and came back to a mini river down the driveway. Now I just set a timer on my phone every single time. Lesson learned 😂
 
Been there! I’ve also left the hose running and come back to a small river in the yard. Now, I set a timer on my phone for 30 minutes just in case. I’ve also found it helps to leave the hose in a spot that’s hard to ignore like right next to the door. Keeps me from forgetting it!
 
Oh, absolutely happened to me once! I left the hose running while grabbing a quick snack, and came back to a soggy backyard. Now I always set a timer or put the hose in a really visible spot so I can’t forget it. Lesson learned the hard way! 😂
 
Been there. My cheap fix: screw a 10 hose timer on the spigot, set a phone alarm, and leave the hose across the doorway so you have to see it. Haven’t had a flood since.
