I kept getting stupid foam every time I turned the jets on, even when nobody had been in the tub. Water looked fine otherwise, sanitizer was where it should be, filters were clean. I kept telling myself it was just a little soap residue or something and it would go away. It didn’t.
I tried topping off the water and cleaning the filters again, but the next time the jets ran it was right back. At that point it was pretty obvious it wasn’t just a chlorine issue.
What ended up working for me was shocking it first, running the jets with the cover off for a bit, then dealing with the foam after instead of trying to kill it all at once. I used an enzyme and a little defoamer to knock down what was left. I already had an AquaDoc kit on hand that included both, so I just went with that.
It didn’t magically disappear on the spot, but by the next day the foam was basically gone. i’ve run the jets a bunch since and it hasn’t come back.
Posting this because I kept seeing people say foam is just “normal,” but in my case it was definitely fixable without draining the tub.
