I feel like your situation lines up with what Manikshaw shared. From what I’ve seen, a deck makes getting in and out way more comfortable than just a ladder, especially if you use the pool often. If you’re unsure about the time and cost, I think you’ll realize it’s worth it once you actually use it.I built mine two summers ago with pressure treated wood. Took a few weekends but it was worth it. Makes getting in and out easier and looks way better than just a ladder.
I thought about building a deck around my pool too. I used to just have a ladder, and it was a bit of a hassle getting in and out. So I decided to build a small deck, and although it took a bit of time and effort, the result was totally worth it. It’s much easier to get in and out, and it looks way better than just a ladder. If you’re considering it, I’d say go for it it really made the pool area feel more complete!
From what William Walker and Daniel Adams mentioned about long-term comfort, that’s really the biggest factor. I helped a friend build a small half-round deck on his above-ground pool, and it changed more than just the look, it increased how often the pool was used. People felt more comfortable getting in and out, especially kids and older family members. There is upfront cost, but compared to the daily convenience and added safety, it’s an upgrade you feel every time you use the pool, not just a cosmetic change.I was in the same spot as you. I wasn’t sure at first, but after building a small deck, it was way more comfortable and got used all the time. A bit of work up front, but totally worth it for me.
