I try to think of the pool area like a “no cord zone.” If it plugs in, I don’t want it anywhere near the edge. A buddy once set a radio on a table right next to the shallow end, and that was enough of a wake-up call for me.
Now I stick to battery-powered stuff (lanterns, speakers, etc.) when we’re hanging out by the water. Also, once a year I have an electrician give the equipment pad a once-over. Doesn’t take long, but it’s nice knowing the bonding and grounding are solid.
Feels like overkill until you imagine what could happen otherwise.
