How early before the swimming season should you start circulating pool water?

Some pool owners open their pools weeks before they actually plan to swim, mainly to get the filtration and circulation system running early. I’m curious whether starting circulation early helps stabilize water chemistry before the season begins.

If it were me, I’d start circulating and checking chemistry about 1–2 weeks before you actually plan to swim, or once the water temp is consistently above roughly 50–55°F (10–13°C) and nights aren’t flirting with freezing anymore. That gives you time to get everything mixed, let the filter pull out fine debris, and dial in pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer gradually instead of scrambling right before the first swim day.
