How long does it take a hot tub clarifier to work?

Just added a clarifier to my hot tub because the water looked hazy after a weekend soak. The bottle says it should clear up fast but it’s been a few hours and still looks a little dull. How long does it usually take before you can see a real difference and is there anything that can make it work faster?

I’ve seen it work overnight too depending on how cloudy the water is. If it’s really murky give it a full cycle through your filtration system. Also don’t overdose it. Too much clarifier can make the water look worse before it gets better.

Usually within 4 to 6 hours you should see it start to clear. The trick is to keep your jets running for a bit and make sure the filter’s clean before adding the clarifier. It binds the small particles together so the filter can catch them if the filter’s dirty, it slows everything down.

Mine usually takes about 8 hours to fully clear especially after heavy use. I run the jets on low overnight and rinse the filter in the morning. Works every time. Just avoid using the tub while the clarifier’s doing its job.

Good to know it’s not instant then. I’ll clean the filter and let it run longer overnight. The water’s not too bad just a bit cloudy, so maybe it’ll settle by morning. Thanks for the pointers!
