Is it better to dissolve granular chemicals before adding them to the pool?

When adding granular chemicals like shock or pH adjusters, some guides suggest dissolving them in a bucket first. Others say it’s safe to broadcast them directly into the pool water.
From a best-practice perspective, does pre-dissolving chemicals help prevent surface staining or uneven chemical distribution?

When I’m dealing with granular chemicals, I usually pre-dissolve them in a bucket of pool water with the pump running, because undissolved granules sitting on the floor can leave spotting or “burn” a surface if they pile up in one place. I pour it in slowly as I walk the perimeter so it spreads evenly, brush anything I can still see, and let it circulate 30–60 minutes before I retest. Big rule for me is I never mix different chemicals together in the same bucket.

I’m with what Krzysztof said, pre-dissolving granular stuff is usually safer because it reduces the chance of granules sitting on the floor and leaving spotting or a “burn” if they pile up in one place. I don’t force every granular type into the bucket method though, some dissolve slowly and just turn into a hassle, so my main rules are pump running, don’t dump it all in one spot, brush any visible leftovers, and never mix different chemicals in the same container.
