Light green dust on walls but water still clear?

Noticed a light green dust forming along the shady side of my pool walls. The water itself is still clear but when I brush the wall it kind of clouds up slightly and then settles again. Is this early algae starting or just normal debris buildup?

That definitely sounds like early stage algae. It usually starts in shaded areas where circulation isn’t as strong. Catching it early makes it way easier to deal with.

I had the same thing last summer. Brushing daily for a few days made a big difference. Sometimes it’s just that one dead spot where water doesn’t move much.

Check your return jet direction. If that side of the pool isn’t getting much flow debris and algae both tend to settle there first.

Makes sense since that wall barely gets sun. I’ll increase brushing and adjust the returns to get better circulation over there. Glad I caught it early.
