Water shoots out the backwash hose even on filter mode

I set the valve to filter but water still trickles out the backwash line is the valve bad or could something else cause it.

Mine did the same and it was just the spider gasket inside the multiport worn out once I replaced it the leak stopped completely.

Could also be debris stuck in the valve keeping it from sealing tight I opened mine up and cleaned it before replacing and that fixed it for a while.

Happened to me too turned out the handle spring on the multiport was weak, so the diverter wasn’t sealing the spider gasket. I swapped the spring, cleaned/lubed the grooves, then ran a 20-sec RINSE to seat it. No more water out the backwash hose. Have you checked that spring?

I’ve had this happen too. It’s usually not a bad valve, more like debris or a worn spider gasket. I’d check and clean that first, a lot of times that fixes it right away

I agree with John Faulkner, a lot of the time it’s not a totally “bad valve,” it’s fine debris keeping the spider gasket from sealing, so you get a trickle to the backwash line even in filter mode. I shut the pump off, rotate the handle slowly through a couple positions and back to filter while pressing down so it seats fully, then do a quick 15 to 30 second rinse, wipe the waste line dry, and see if it starts dripping again, and it often fixes it without tearing anything apart. Does it only trickle when the pump is running, or does it drip even when it’s off?
