What was the moment you realized your pool maintenance routine finally worked?

Many pool owners go through a trial-and-error phase before finding a maintenance routine that actually keeps the water stable and clear. I’m curious about the moment when things finally “clicked” for you. Was it a change in testing frequency, pump schedule, chemical balance, or something else entirely?
It would be interesting to hear what specific change or habit made you realize that your pool care routine had finally become consistent and reliable.

The “it finally works” moment for me is when I realize I’m not chasing numbers anymore, yet the readings stay steady for 3–5 days straight, the water stays clear, there’s no weird smell, and free chlorine doesn’t suddenly crash overnight. That usually happens once I’m consistent about testing around the same time, sampling from the same spot, keeping pH from drifting, and regularly hitting the dead spots (corners/steps) so fine gunk doesn’t build up, then the pool just feels calm even when I’m not doing anything extra.

Like Krzysztof mentioned about a stable 3–5 day stretch, that usually shows up once I test around the same time, sample the same way (elbow-deep, away from returns), top up a little before it dips, and keep the dead spots brushed so fine gunk doesn’t quietly build up.
