My experience I tried a budget clarifier first and water cleared but developed a film line after a few uses. Switched to a spa-specific brand made for hot tubs (higher temp, higher bather load) and the film disappeared. Also worth noting that some clarifiers aren’t ideal for salt-water or bromine setups so check compatibility.I’m trying to choose a clarifier for my hot tub and there are so many brands out there. I want something that clears fine particles works with a bromine system and won’t mess up the water chemistry. Has anyone found a clarifier that works really well long term in a hot tub?
I’ve been using a chitosan based clarifier (natural polymer) in my hot tub for about a year now. It tightened up the water clarity a lot faster than ones I used before. The filter seemed to work better too because the tiny particles got captured easier. One catch you still need to keep your pH and alkalinity in check or it won’t perform as well.I’m trying to choose a clarifier for my hot tub and there are so many brands out there. Thanks both! The chitosan based option sounds interesting. I hadn’t considered the polymer type yet. I’ll check compatibility with my bromine system and make sure my pH/alkali are solid before adding it.
