Yellow algae keeps coming back help!

No matter how much I shock and brush, I still get yellow algae in shady corners. What’s the trick to finally get rid of it?

Dealt with this exact thing last summer. Yellow algae are sneaky. What finally helped me was pulling out all the accessories and giving everything a deep clean. I’m talking skimmer baskets, pool toys, the brush head, even the floaties. I didn’t realise spores were clinging to stuff I wasn’t even thinking about.

Also, I started running the pump for a bit after brushing instead of before. I used to brush, then stop for the night… now I brush and let it run for hours after, so anything loosened gets filtered out. That, plus a triple check on circulation, especially in shaded steps, finally stopped it from coming back.

I had this problem too! Yellow algae kept coming back no matter how much I brushed. What helped was brushing daily, using a strong shock, and running the pump longer afterward. I also cleaned the ladder and pool toys—didn’t realize spores were hiding there. It finally cleared up after that.

Yep, same issue here. Yellow algae stuck around until I hit it with a heavy shock and scrubbed like crazy steps, toys, filters, the whole deal. Ran the pump longer too. Took some effort but finally got it gone.

Yellow algae sticks to shady corners and objects, so to get rid of it: brush daily (especially corners and steps), shock the pool strongly, run the pump continuously after brushing, and clean all accessories like skimmers, toys, and ladders. Aim jets to improve circulation. For stubborn cases, a yellow-algae algaecide can help.

I have dealt with “yellow algae” too, and what makes it tough is it loves shady areas and it clings to pool stuff. What helped me most was brushing daily for a few days (especially the shady corners), doing a stronger shock, then running the pump for a few hours after you brush so whatever breaks loose gets pulled into the filter. Also, pull out and clean the things it likes to hide on: steps or ladder, toys, floats, skimmer basket, even your brush and vacuum hose. If that stuff is still dirty, it feels like you won, then it just comes back from there. Once circulation is better and all the hiding spots are cleaned, it usually finally stays gone.
